Privacy Policy
Acquiror ("Acquiror", "we", "us", or "our") provides an AI-powered platform for sourcing, valuing, and closing acquisitions. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through our website and waitlist at acquiror.ai, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have. It is written to meet our obligations under Canadian and United States privacy and anti-spam law.
01Scope & who we are
This policy covers personal information collected through the Acquiror marketing website and waitlist sign-up. It does not yet cover the Acquiror product application, which is in private development; a separate product privacy notice and Data Processing Agreement will apply to customer data once the product is generally available.
Acquiror is the data controller (and, under PIPEDA, the organization accountable for the personal information) for data collected through this website. For privacy questions or to exercise any of the rights described below, contact us at privacy@acquiror.ai.
02Information we collect
We collect only what we need to operate the waitlist and keep it free of abuse. We do not buy personal information from data brokers, and we do not ask for sensitive personal information.
Information you give us
| Data | Required? | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|
| Work email address | Required | To add you to the waitlist and send your confirmation and early-access updates. |
| Company name | Required | To understand who is joining and to prioritize onboarding. |
| Acquirer type / role | Optional | To tailor onboarding and product communications to your use case. |
Information we collect automatically
| Data | Why we collect it |
|---|---|
| IP address | Security and abuse prevention β rate-limiting and stopping automated/bot sign-ups. Stored with your waitlist record. |
| Submission timestamp & source | To record when and from where you joined the waitlist. |
| Server & diagnostic logs | Operational telemetry (via Azure Application Insights) to keep the service reliable and secure. |
Our sign-up form includes a hidden "honeypot" field that is invisible to people and is used only to detect and silently discard automated bot submissions. If that field is filled in, the submission is dropped and nothing is stored.
03How we use your information
We use the personal information above to:
- add you to the private-beta waitlist and manage your place in it;
- send you a confirmation email and, later, early-access and product updates you can opt out of at any time;
- protect the service against spam, fraud, and automated abuse;
- operate, maintain, and improve the website; and
- comply with our legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising or use it for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you.
04Consent & legal basis
By submitting the waitlist form, you consent to our collecting and using your personal information for the purposes described in this policy. Under Canadian law (PIPEDA and, in Quebec, Law 25), this is express consent for a clearly identified purpose. You may withdraw your consent at any time (see Your rights β Canada), subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
Where we rely on a basis other than consent β for example, our legitimate interest in securing the service against abuse or meeting legal obligations β we limit that use to what is reasonable and proportionate.
05Email & anti-spam (CASL / CAN-SPAM)
When you join the waitlist we send a transactional confirmation email. We may also send occasional early-access and product updates. Every commercial message we send:
- identifies Acquiror as the sender and includes a valid postal/contact address;
- contains a working, one-click unsubscribe mechanism that we honour promptly; and
- is sent only after you have given consent by joining the waitlist.
This meets the requirements of Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) and the U.S. CAN-SPAM Act. Unsubscribing stops marketing email; we may still send essential service or legal notices. If you unsubscribe, your address is added to a suppression list so we don't email you again.
06Cookies & tracking
The Acquiror website does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics or ad pixels on it. We do not respond differently to browser "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals because we do not track you across sites or sell/share your data in the first place.
Our pages load web fonts from Google Fonts. To deliver those fonts, your browser connects to Google's servers, which necessarily receive your IP address and request information. We do not control and are not responsible for Google's processing of that data; see Google's privacy policy for details.
07How we share information
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the waitlist, and only as needed to provide their service to us under contract. These currently include:
- Microsoft Azure β cloud hosting, storage, and application telemetry (Static Web Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Table Storage, Application Insights).
- Azure Communication Services β delivery of confirmation and update emails.
- Google Fonts β web-font delivery, as described in Cookies & tracking.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to respond to lawful requests from public authorities, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case we will require the recipient to honour this policy). We do not sell your personal information for money or other valuable consideration.
08Where your data is stored
Waitlist personal information is stored in Microsoft Azure data centres in the Canada Central region (Toronto, Ontario, Canada). We chose Canadian data residency so that the personal information you give us is held within Canada.
If you are located in the United States or elsewhere, please be aware that, by joining the waitlist, your personal information will be transferred to and stored in Canada and handled by us and our service providers in accordance with this policy. Some operational telemetry and email-delivery processing may occur in other Microsoft Azure regions; in all cases your information is protected by contractual and technical safeguards.
09Data retention
We keep your waitlist information for as long as needed to operate the waitlist and, if you become a customer, to provide the product β or until you ask us to delete it. If the waitlist program ends and you have not become a customer, we will delete or de-identify your information within a reasonable period. Suppression-list records (unsubscribe requests) are kept as long as necessary to honour your opt-out.
10Security
We protect personal information with technical and organizational safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest, strict transport security and content-security policies, server-side input validation, rate limiting, and access controls that limit who can reach the data. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to address vulnerabilities promptly.
11Your rights β Canada
Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial laws (including Quebec's Law 25, and the personal-information protection acts of British Columbia and Alberta), you have the right to:
π¨π¦ Access & correction
- ask whether we hold personal information about you and request access to it;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- ask how your information has been used and to whom it has been disclosed.
π¨π¦ Consent, deletion & portability
- withdraw your consent and ask us to stop using your information;
- request deletion of your personal information;
- under Law 25, request a usable copy of the information you provided (portability).
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@acquiror.ai. We will respond within the timelines required by law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or, for Quebec residents, the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
12Your rights β United States
Depending on your state of residence β including California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and other states with comprehensive privacy laws β you may have the rights below. We extend these core rights to all U.S. residents regardless of state.
πΊπΈ Know, access & delete
- know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose;
- access a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- request deletion of your personal information;
- correct inaccurate personal information.
πΊπΈ Opt out & non-discrimination
- opt out of any "sale" or "sharing" of personal information β note we do not sell or share your data;
- limit use of sensitive personal information β we do not collect it;
- not receive discriminatory treatment for exercising your rights.
To exercise these rights, email privacy@acquiror.ai. We will verify your request (typically by confirming control of the email address on file) and respond within the timeframe your state law requires β generally 45 days, with one permitted extension. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf where the law allows. California's "Shine the Light" law: we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct-marketing purposes.
13Children's privacy
Acquiror is a business product intended for professional acquirers. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
14Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our product and legal obligations evolve. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or a notice on the site. Your continued use of the website after an update means you accept the revised policy.
